1999 NO DANCE BRINGS NEW FILMMAKERS TO SECOND DIGITAL YEAR IN PARK CITY, UTAH.

Hermosa Beach, CA.....The 1999 NO DANCE Film & Multimedia Festival has invited eighteen new films to screen as part of its one day alternative event on Tuesday January 26th, 1999. With an emphasis on new digital technology geared toward independent filmmakers, NO DANCE - YEAR TWO culled 183 submissions from a nationwide internet search.

The Grand Jury voting room is presenting its selections on DVD, a first-time event for film festivals across the world. "To project our films on DVD is only a small possibility of how new digital technology is affecting the indie filmmaker, and making it cheaper and more affordable for films to be completed and presented," says founder and festival director, James Boyd. "I'm excited that NO DANCE was able to bring together such a high-quality, eclectic blend of films for the market-like atmospshere that Park City provides. It's going to be a zoo."

The one-hundred twenty seat DVD theater will include the world premiere of "Shucking The Curve" (dir. Todd Verow), "Get A Job" (dir. Gregg Cannizzaro), "The Shoe Store" (dir. Steven Proto), "Sugar: Fall of the West" (dir. James Frey), and "Men in Scoring Position" (dir. Tim Rhys). Selected shorts films include "The Bus Stop" (dir. Will Hartman), "A Friend Comes To Visit" (dir. Lorena David), "Group" (dir. Shawn Schepps), and "Man & Dog" (dir. Randolph Benson).

The fifty-seat video projection theater will include the features "Bury The Evidence" (dir. Greg De Felice), "Slaves Of Hollywood" (dir. Terry Keefe & Michael Wechsler), "The Big Muddy" (dir. Kaleo Quenzer & Rick Venable), "Babyshakes and The Return of Macdaddy" (dir. Gregg Paine), and Evan Jacob's punk rock documentary "Curse of Instinct: 108's Final Tour". Shorts include "The Vanishing Point" (dir. Jonathan Howard), "Shiva's Teardrop" (dir. Sean Hood), "Date Less" (dir. Dan Reheuser), and the Australian entry "Grunt" (dir. Sue Brown).

The NO DANCE video lounge will house additional features including "Reynard the Fox" (dir. Todd Freeman), "Prometheus Bound" (dir. Wick Coleman III), and WARP TOUR spinoff "Born To Lose" (dir. Doug Cawker). NO DANCE will also screen music videos from Jerry Cantrell, Seal, Gene Loves Jezebel, 12 Rods, and Liz Friedlander's Hooverphonic video for "Eden." Four of the music videos will screen on DVD in order to take full advantage of the digital format. Additionally, there will be a gallery display of high-resolution computer artwork provided by digital artist Jason Cozy.

The DVD-R authoring was provided by returning sponsor 6161 Entertainment, and will include an on-site demonstration of DVD-R technology using the Pioneer DVR-S101 burner. Additionally, NO DANCE has hired on-air camera personality Beth Stolarczyk (MTV's "Real World/Road Rules Challenge") to provide coverage, and includes jury members from the professional film community including Jason McHugh (Prd. "Orgazmo", "Cannibal:The Musical"), Kai Schoenhals (Pres. Open Door Entertainment), and Robert Meyer Burnett (Pres. Mindfire Ent./dir. "Free Enterprise").

NO DANCE has added internet retail company DVD EXPRESS, and campus cable television show, COLLEGE BROADCAST, as new sponsors of the event. Both internet companies will provide web site promotion, and help create a means of alternative distribution for the NO DANCE selections.

The closing night party will announce the NO DANCE winners, including the NO DANCE screenplay finalist, Grand Jury Prizes, Audience Award, and the highly-coveted "Golden Orbs" award for the most creative guerrilla marketing campaign on the mountain.

A complete list of films, screening times, and updates will be available on the 6161.com web site, which has been featured on the nationwide television show WILD WILD WEB, and receives up to 20,000 hits a month. Additionally, the web site will provide updates and streaming video reports direct from Park City during the week's festivities.

NO DANCE will take place in the Radisson Inn Hotel (2121 Park Avenue), which is connected to the Park City bus route. NO DANCE will also offer a mobile headquarters on Main Street.

NO DANCE screenings are free to the public.
